You’re coping well with this. I don’t know who was more upset when I saw this, you or me? (Probably you).
“… you only had a problem with one so its a 75% pass…”, oh how I laughed

My entire existence at the moment is “Rethink, adapt, overcome” so I just keep going and see what happens.

    So Ig0r did a thing…..

Admittedly, the effect would be better on a 2 piece book matched body, but I’m not entirely unsatisfied with it. I’m going to do some further refinement by hand with a finer wire brush and some rasps.

Been thinking about this effect as well. What have you done to get here so far? A chunky wire brush?

A rotary composite abrasive brush. You can see it in the background of the last photo. It took some getting used to, it can seem like it's not doing much then you stop and realise it's done more than you thought. Dust protection (and extraction if you've got it) is a must. They throw off really fine dust that hangs for some time.

Are you going to burn it SSB style after this?

No, I was contemplating a couple of stain washes, wiping and sanding back, but I’m tempted to do some extra brush/awl/probework and just clear it. I’ve time, still have to sort out the jack rebore, sorting the neck etc.

I had a thought of doing some dry brush accents in the grain as well.
