I’ve given the dye a little test on some pine and it is close to mahogany, but not quite the same. As staining is a must for this project I was hoping to receive a kit that will take kindly to staining, as opposed to something that would be better off painting. Maybe I just have to order and hope for the best.

Update: I thought the Ash body was the only option, didn’t see the basswood. ST-1 ordered. Payment was a bit glitching…payment has left the bank but items are still in the cart.
Never used that stain on wood, but given it's primary use it should be stable! Basswood is a good choice IMHO. The grain can be great in ash, but the pore filling and weight are a pain. I suspect that basswood will also take the stain more evenly since it is a much tighter grained wood.

Pine is pretty open grained...if you have some scrap around of maple to experiment with that might be closer to what the basswood will look like.

Looking forward to seeing the build!

With regard to the payment, Hope you'll alert Tim. Did you get you get an order confirmation email?

My mistake. PayPal CCard was out of date. Sorted. I obviously don't do enough on line shopping.
