If it takes 4 men 1 day to dig a hole, how long would it take 2 men to dig half a hole?

The little voices in my head keep telling me "build more guitars"
Unless you define the size of the hole you want dug, in which case you can argue that in one day, each man digs 1/4 of the specified hole, so it would take 2 men one day to dig half the same sized hole.
This doesn't take into account the shape of the hole though. It could be shallow and long, say 8m x 2m x 1m deep, where each man has easy access to the area and they can work in parallel, or if could be small and deep but have the same internal volume e.g 1m x 1m x 16m deep, and so only one person could work in it at a time and they took turns digging and removing the spoil. So in theory, 2 men could dig half that hole in 1/2 a day.
But the deeper it is, the harder it becomes to remove the soil plus the hole needs shoring up, so work becomes slower and slower the deeper the hole.
There basically isn't enough information in the question to give a meaningful answer.
The last pair of f holes I cut took me most of an afternoon, by hand with a scalpel in a spruce top. The difference in wood density on the growth rings made it really hard... at least at my level of 'skill'.
On the subject of hollow Telecasters here's a long term project of mine. I decided these sides were too deep so I need to start again...

Build #1, failed solid body 6 string using neck from a scrapped acoustic (45+ odd years ago as a teenager!)
Build #2, ugly parlour semi with scratch built body and ex Peavey neck
Build #3, Appalachian Dulcimer from EMS kit
Build #4, pre-owned PB ESB-4
Build #5, Lockdown Mandolin
Build #6, Sixty six body for Squier
Build #7, Mini Midi Bass
That's the point...There basically isn't enough information in the question to give a meaningful answer.

It opens up loads of other questions as well, like when does a hole become a hole and not just a small indentation in the ground?
Or, when does a hole become a well.
