Plans are for a cherry red stain and I ordered the kit with gold hardware.
I have got the neck masked in preparation for fret level and polish so will post some mock build pics once I have finished that

That's certainly a spectacular grain pattern. Interesting to see how it comes out.

Scored big time on that veneer top! Look forward to seeing how that turns out.

Now I think of it, it reminds me of the original Dr Who titles animation from the 60s.

Was that part of your childhood cultural scene?

Just going to build it with stock hardware for now with a view to upgrading pickups and electrics once I know it is playing well.
Frets have been levelled and crowned (with super-cheap ebay file which proved a very worthwhile investment) - just need some wire wool and polish to finish the job.
Main concern is to do justice to the top.
I am doing it with Wudtone Cherry Flamenco. Cherry red is the colour for an ES right Hopefully that will bring the grain out nicely.

Ha ha - the resemblance is uncanny.
I was never a fan of Doctor Who but growing up in the UK in the 60s and 70s couldn't escape it infiltrating into my subconscious

My 6YO says it looks like lions fur. Any which way you slice it, it’s pretty special.
