You definitely got a great result with the FW poly.
Just as an FYI, and if you plan on doing more builds, you can do a DIY wipe-on poly for about 1/3 of the price of the bought stuff. You just thin whatever (oil based) poly of your choice 50/50 with mineral turps.

The wipe-on stuff you get off the shelf is just thinned polyurethane. You can also play with the mix ratio if necessary. 60/40 poly/turps builds a little quicker, but also requires a little more time between coats (but still quicker than poly neat).

I've started spraying all my poly and 50/50, 60/40 seems to work well in my guns.

Thanks Mac, I might give that a go on the next one. I should be able to manage it as I’ve been a painter for 38 years. It never occurred to me to do that. Live and learn.
Anyway I have been working on my P90 pick up ring and have it made up out of 2mm steel. I will post some pictures later. What I was looking for was someone in Sydney to chrome plate it. I have spoken to two guys, one old guy said it could take him 2 to 3 weeks as he was the only one there and would cost me about $60 and the other guys lowest price was $120. I am sure there is someone a bit cheaper, Quicker or both. Any help would be appreciated.
I don’t need that item right away as I am starting to assemble and do the wiring next week. Plus fret polishing to do.

Putting it into be chromed tomorrow, so far it’s cost me about $4 for the steel. A lot more though for the chrome.

That sure does look like a lot of work. Not a form of punishment I think I'll subject myself to... But looks great!

Hi all, finally got my guitar finished. The wait for my pickup ring to be chromed was worth it. First time I have made something out of steel by hand and I am really happy with it. It matches the rest of the hardware and I’m over the moon happy. Hey Dozy, it only took about 3 hours to make so it wasn’t really punishment. In the end it cost me about $1 for the steel and $50 to have it chromed. Here is a picture of the final piece of the puzzle in place.Click image for larger version.
