    What's your recipe?

I tried a myriad of ratios and never achieved anything of equal performance to the real deal.
I started with all equal parts as I had read on the interwebs, which took forever to dry. Then I started experimenting with more poly, less BLO, more turps etc. I even tried a bit of naptha (shellite). In the end I just gave up.

I have since heard of guys adding Japan Dryer, but haven't had the motivation to get into it again.

@McCreed For me it's all equal parts of what is advertised in the photo. Could be something to do with the BLO having secret "added drying agents" dunno. I also used pure gum turps. Is that the same BLO you used mate?

The floor board Tele got some paint today. Going for a rat-rod look so no primer used.

Same brand of poly, BLO was Maxi brand, also "pale" but no mention of drying agents specifically. However it is labelled as "fast drying". And I used mineral turps, which was what I read to use. I have no explanation for lack of success. Since then, I've been successful and content with spraying satin poly on my necks.
If conditions are right and there's no "human error" I can shoot a neck in one day then it's just a matter of waiting for it to completely dry. Last satin poly neck I did, I had it installed on a body after 8 days and it was just fine.

A little blue semi ceruse highlight on the black Tele. Should all settle down nicely under some clear.

That's very cool BD. The black & blue concept looks great. (you can call it "The Bruiser")

What did you use for the ceruse? Are you planning to apply enough clear to flatten it?

Thanks mate. I used some of the kids paint rubbed across the grain and then wiped off with the grain. Should just be a subtle enough highlight to avoid it being totally BLACK as I've got all black hardware to go on too. I'm not concerned with getting it flat, I'm after a textured finish on this one. There is imperfections already due to using the floor boards and you can see the join lines etc. So I want it kind of ratty and not sterile 100% perfection. Will start the satin poly coats this weekend.
