I've attached a couple of pix to show what I mean and see if there's anything stupid I'm doing. You can see in picture B the holes aren't even in a straight line, so they'll never line up! I understand there are left and right hand ones; I think I have them on the corect side!

The tuners are placed on the correct sides.

I agree that all you can do is mount them tidily! The website, from post 43, also shows the headstock and tuners - they have the winders all parallel to each other. I do not think that is possible for your top tuners as the winders will hit the headstock!
