    rob's TL-1L - Lyn #11

Hey Guys, Lyn #11 has just been started. For the more astute forumites who are keeping count and wondering what happened to Lyn #10?

Bret, very good friend of mine has played one of my guitars and asked if I could make him one. So Lyn #11 has become my first "commission" and will get most of my attention and jumps up the queue. But fear not, #10 is an ongoing project that I started a few months ago and has now been put on hold until I finish #11.

Bret is a lefty and apparently left-handed guitars are not real thick on the ground, so when I offered to make him one he jumped at the chance. He’s always wanted a TL style guitar. Apart from all the Fenders and MusicMans (MusicMen?) guitars he has owned, one of his favourites was a rather expensive Jackson neck-through with a reversed headstock, so when I offered him a once only chance of a reversed headstock he decided to go with that. The only downside to that decision is that now I will have his lefty neck in my right-handed TL. Who needs fretboard side dots anyway? lol.

Anyway I have just put on a coat of F&W stain and started on the "naughty oil". Apart from the reversed headstock this will be a pretty standard/traditional build so I will just put up a few happy snaps now and then.

    Mods:
Gotoh 6 saddle (string through body) bridge
    Tonerider Pups
CTS pots and Orange Drop Cap
    Abalone fret markers
    Bone Nut.

    Cheers guys

Thanks Tony. It was originally shaped for my right-handed TL, and to be honest, looked better as a regular righty. Not keen on reversed headstocks but hey, the customer is always right. Lol.

    Cheers

Haha, thanks Dave. No I won't be going to the Nationals. Unfortunately I didn't even make the last one up here. A familiar story, too old, too broke lol.

Very keen on the 'stock shape (mucho cooler than the standard shape) & that rich honey finish is really attractive too.
OK - I'm a Lefty but play Righty but dislike reversed 'stocks notwithstanding (ya can bet ya Lefty).

Thanks Max. I thought it about time to have a different headstock. I finally have enough confidence to personalize my guitars. Just a pity that it looked OK as a regular headstock but I'm not convinced as a reverse.

    Cheers mate,

nice progress, as a lefty I can attest to the pain of searching for left handed axes.... and scissors.... and screw drivers ....
