    Mockingbird style- Kurt White

So I just got this kit and I'm new to here so do forgive me! So far I'm actually more pleased with this kit than I expected the inlays are incredible they looked really boring in pictures but they are actually really detailed, the bodywork is also extremely nice, 10 times better than my last kit that I got from another website. All my parts appear to be there. I'll post some pictures tomorrow afternoon after work and begin a dry fit assembly

I also managed to get a really nice wood grain, I'm thinking of doing a red stain across it with the 2 black racing stripes, similar to the mockingbird slash owned. Any suggestions on colours? Cheers lads

Welcome along Kurt - ultimately the colour choice is up to you. If you are looking for stains - DingoTone is nice and has 2 red - Karijini and Uluru. Downside is I'm not certain how successful you would be with getting a nice clean straight black line using stains...

What you've got there sounds great, but given it's your guitar - go with what you want! Keen to see how it goes!

Thanks Brendan, I did think about that, though I am unsure on how Im going to do that also 😂 I was also just thinking of painting it and going in afterwards with a paintbrush or airbrush and try and paint in its wood grain texture, although I'm not sure how well that's going to go down even after being a artist for a few years. Would you happen to know where any good guides are for painting a guitar? Then maybe a seperate one for staining?

My plans for the build however are:

-A floyd rose locking but and tremolo system (I've always been a sucker for them) this means I'm going to have to get my guitar routed out,
    - some upgraded pickups maybe, still tossing up whether or not to use the ones I got in the kit.
    - I think I've definetly decided to do the red paint or stain with the black racing stripes running along it,

I'm open to a lot of suggestions as I'm fairly unsure of it myself.

There is a bit of help on how to stain and spray a guitar in the PitBull guitars site - especially in the videos section.

Have a look at eBay for racing stripes stickers - they may be a good option for you. That way the lines will be nice and straight and clean. I've seen some for guitars in the past. From memory they were not massively expensive.

Cool, if you need some templates or help with routing for the Floyd, let me know.

Using stickers would make it 10 times easier, might not look as good is all I'm worried about, guess I'll have to wait and see. @pablopepper, could I definetly please grab any templates or measurements on it, I was going to get a shop to do it for me considering I'm not all that confident with my routing (it's pretty dodgy xD), so any measurements or blueprints or templates I can get for that would be amazing!!

welcome Kurt, like your plans for the MB kit. Always remember the Gunners video "You could be mine" Slash belting out on the Mockingbird.
I'd work out how the floyd trem route is going to fit with the spring cavity and looks like you will need to plug at least 2 of the bridge post holes. Once thats all routed I'd start sanding the body.
Never seen a stripe done on a stained axe. I'd probably tape off and paint the black stripes with solid paint, then stain over with red with Dingotone Karijini red is a nice deep red colour.
Pablo's templates will be a big help if you are doing the routing yourself
