    Brodie's SG-1F - 'Aussie Axe'

    Hi there Lads and Ladies,

Long time, no see, so I figured I'd better get back on the band wagon and start a new project (even though I haven't strictly finished the last lot...).

I bagged myself an SG-1F as a Sunday Special, and boy-oh-boy did I hit the jackpot. First up, the positives:
    • there are no glue spots and no machine marks present on the body or neck
    • the flame maple cap is pretty schmick
    • the basswood body is phenomenal - flame running throughout, rivaling the cap for beauty
    • the neck has an excellent profile - really thin (perfect for my widdle hands)
    • the neck is the best finished I've received in a kit (we all know how much trouble I've had with necks) - frets are good, nut slots are low, fretboard is tidy - makes a pleasant change

The only negatives I have found are:
    • the tuning post holes are not centred - the classic curse of 3x3 PBG kits
    • the contours on the horns weren't done spectacularly well, but I should be able to remedy this

Overall, I'm pretty stoked - another fantastic PBG offering.

Lastly, I know how much we all love our pictures around here, so I'll get some up pronto.

You betcha, Woks. Keen to see what tangents this diary will head off in once the bantermeisters of the forum get a hold of it.

As for colour scheme, I have a few ideas, but still finalising my overall desire for the build. No upgrades planned as yet, but if it shapes up nicely, then it might get a few thrown its way. Time will tell.

    As promised, pictures!

I'll get the bad stuff out the way first. Here's my wonky tuning peg holes. If it's this noticeable with the naked eye, I know I'm gonna have to fix 'er, but it's doable:

Now, enough negatives, time for the good stuff! Let me shower you with gorgeous grain!

    But wait, it gets better!

Have you ever seen such magnificence in a PBG body before?! And they all say basswood is a boring grain. Pfft, yeah right.
