Got sick of the cost of replacing and tuning the valves so got the digital Fender Mustang IV 100W head but it still powers the Marshall 100W quad cabinet. I still got the Marshall valve head, might keep it as a collector or get some new valves for it

    Which model Marshall Head do you have mate?, I reckon if you can afford it, then definitely see if you can get a set of new valves for it, when they're working like they're supposed to Marshalls can't be beat, I might get myself one of those Fender Mustangs as a backup gigging amp, maybe next year, Sounds Of Music have some in stock.

    For sure, I had been really missing that Marshall sound, I had to make do with a little 35 Watt solid-state Peavey Backstage Plus amp while the Marshall was being fixed, a bit different sounding compared to the Marshall, but at least I had something I could gig with.

    I'll see if I can record a new demo clip of the amp later on, cause I have a nice Focusrite Condenser mic I can use, and it's a good excuse for me to give the mic a good tryout in a recording session.

    I'll also see if I can find out what speakers are installed in the amp, I'm pretty sure they're Eminences, but I could be wrong.

    I'll tell you what, seeing as I have a printer/scanner/copier, I'll scan the copy of the job sheet I got from the guy who fixed my Marshall, into my PC so I can post an image of it here so you can see exactly what the guy did to fix my amp.

    Okay, here are some more pics of the amp for you, firstly some closeups of the front panel:

    Cheers mate, I reckon you should get some new valves for that JCM2000 Head of yours if/when you can afford some, cause they do sound great when they're working well, I just tried my Radial Tonebone Hot British pedal through my Marshall with the LP Studio a few minutes ago, the combination of the three sounded very fat, I got some really nice rock tones and I started hearing some really good dynamics when I varied my picking from soft to hard, I don't remember my Marshall amp being so dynamic before it got fixed, it always sounded a bit compressed before, now, after it's been fixed it sounds dynamic and lively, and loud too.

    Those guitars in the pic look cool too mate.

    I got a bit of a pleasant surprise when I took the back off my Marshall so I could take a pic of the insides, I thought it had a set of Ruby/Shuguangs in it, but they look like they are a set of four new Groove Tubes EL34s, they're supposed to be good quality tubes, so I'm pretty happy with that, the two spare Marshall EL34s that were originally in my amp are still good, the other two were apparently bad, so I'm going to use the two good Marshall EL34s in my Soldano amp since they're matched.

    Update:

    As far as I know my Marshall is still working well...touchwood, and the only thing it lacks is a footswitch so I can remotely switch the channels, so, I'm planning on visiting my local Jaycar Electronics store so I can buy some bits and pieces to make myself a custom footswitch for the Marshall, I found a good schematic on the internet which I may end up modifying to suit my needs, just need to work out if it'll be compatible with my Marshall before doing the mods, I want to mod it so that the different channels are indicated by different coloured Leds, here's what I'm going with:

    Green = Clean Channel.

    Red = Crunch Channel.

    Blue = Boosted Crunch Channel.

    Update:

    Due to the fact that Darwin is playing host to the US Air Force, I won't be able to record any more demos of my Marshall amp because of the noise levels, but once the US Air Force have stopped making noise I'll see if I can record a new demo for you guys, yeah i know I could record the demo at night but there's noise restrictions at night where I live.
