Most PUP's are either mounted to a scratch plate on F style guitars or mounting rings on G styles therefore none of those are screwed into the body. Only exception I have seen is on P & J Basses where the rear J PUP and split P's are screwed into the body.

As I am soon to start on a tele kit too and also saw Adams vid screwing neck PUP into the body and wondered why would you do that when there were adjustment holes in the pick guard. Mind you I have seen some tele's where there are no neck PUP adjust screws visible and these have probably been screwed into the body and would a right proper pain to adjust. Wouldn't it be simpler to mount to pick guard so that adjustment would be simpler and easier? Doubt there would any difference to the sound.

Yeah, i am struggling to understand any benefit to mounting it to the body.....

Thanks for the feedback though everyone....

As an update.....i have routed the bridge pup recess in anticipation of the wilkinson ashtray arriving.....also waiting on delivery of the tone rider vintage pups.....
All recesses have been copper taped, strap mounts done......

    come on mr postman......

You dont need to do anything after you finish with the tru oil, its designed to protect gunstocks from damage.

Pretty sure he swapped the saddle screws for longer ones to achieve intonation.

The tele kit bridge pup cavity have been in the wrong position since day 1, they are about 5mm too south

DB hates TO mainly the dangerous chemicals in it and down the track it can crack and turn to a yellow colour. I'm still waiting for this to happen on many of my builds, no signs yet (touch wood)
Yes, there was a bit of mucking around to get the wilkinson bridge to fit. The PBG saddle screws give you the intonation.

I am still building mine! Life got in the way

    Finally....Finished Build No 1.......

Have not got the headstock decals sorted yet.....still working out a design....any way, here is my attempt to pay homage to one of the forefathers of the guitars.....Leo Fender with my interpretation of the original Broadcaster......

I tried to keep this build as clean and simple as possible.....clean lines, pure wood singing through and wow.....what a tone....

    Build details are as follows:

    TLA-1 kit....
    Grover Locking tuners....

    Schaller Black Strap Locks.

    Tone Rider Vintage Pups...

    Wilkinson Ashtray Bridge.

    Black through body ferrules.

Bone Nut... ( Observation - Wanted to go Graphite with the nut but didn't think it fitted with the look.)

Naughty Oil as the only body treatment after the grain was filled with a cedar timber mate...

D'addario 10's (Sorry the slinky,s are too light for me)..

    Anyway , for the pictures:

Agree with Zeromick. Simple elegant look that really works and shows off it's natural beauty. Well done.
