I'm with Wokks. Complete the circuit in the guitar first, check continuity of circuit. If the ground circuit isn't complete that's why it's humming I think

I've never had RFI issues in a humbucking guitar

To the more knowledgeable guys, could these be the issue, picking up noise from TV, lights, etc?
As an electrical engineer who hasn't touched real electrical engineering for 20 years it all looks like a lot if nice antennas.

Shazz, were you in the same conditions when you tested it clean the first time? Ie. did you have less electrical devices on around you and were you testing in the same place in your house?

Heya Fred, yes, exact same environment. I had my phone and iPad, guitar amp and also the soldering iron. I'm thinking the unsheilded cables could be a lot of the issue...

Double check that no earth points on pots have come apart from the casing
Otherwise re-do the soldering with braided wire might be the best option.
Also Fred has made a good point about any electrical devices nearby could be causing interference.
If I build a hollow body in the future I will only use braided wire from experience from other buillders.
That white wire not connected to anything I presume is the bridge post earth wire. Try exposing some bare wire and hold it with your fingers to see if that earths the circuit and stops the hum
I will double check the earthing
I'm thinking I'll take DB's advice hock it and get better pots and braided cable. I think the shieding could be a lot of it with everyone's opinions and knowledge. That was the main issue my husband had with his 355 build.

I reckon your problem is a dodgy pot?.. Thoughts guys?
I think you could be onto something here DB! Whether the husband allows me to or not is a different story I have also found that you can buy pre wired looms too haha

Ahhh, the mystical town of Robbo
When I was kid, before the dams got built Robbo would often be lost in thick pea soup fogs....
Great Cheeze, and the best potatoes in the world come from Robbo!

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....
