Today I have sanded the body back with 240 g to remove the excess Timbermate. I have also given the body and neck a coat of Ubeaut Sanding Sealer (a shellac-based sealer). Finally given it a gentle one pass sand with 600 g.

I have now added 3 coats of FW Old Baltic stain to the wings and back of the body. Also brushed on two coats of wipe-on-poly. The pine stripes have also been given 2 coats of Cabots water-based gloss poly. I will leave it for a few days and then glue in the stripes.

The pine strips are now glued in. I will let the wipe-on-poly de-gas for a while before I start adding water-based poly coats.

That is really looking fantastic. MTN94 is my go-to for spray paint. Hope it works was well for you as it has for me. What are you thinking of for pickups?

    Thanks fender3x.

You suggested to me that I try MTN94 for my truckster build. I have not had any problems and I like the fact that it can be used in a range of temperatures (8 to 50 degrees C). I also like that it is available from a local art supply company. Hopefully the water-based poly will adhere well - it has in my trials!

As far as the pickups go - I think it will stay with the stock ones (for now!).

For the custom MBM-1 build, which only has the bridge cavity route, I have a Tonerider Birmingham Zebra Humbucker. I'm also trying to source a 6-position rotary switch and a toggle switch so that I can try a Varitone circuit and a coil split. I think that will give some good sound options considering there is only one pup! There is also lots on space in the control cavity to house it all.

Glad it's working for you. It also works in humidity. It's about the only spray paint that I have found that works in Miami's heat and humidity. I haven't had a problem with water based clear coat adhering, but I wait at least 3 weeks to make sure it's gassed out.

The plan for the MBM-1 build sounds cool. That pickup should work great, and the zebras are very rock-and-roll ;-)

Whenever a part gets hard to find, I generally go to Mouser. I don't know about shipping to Australia... but I think this would do it:

Places that have a good stock of Alpha parts should have this too.

Thanks. Mouser does have an Oz section, but shipping still seems quite expensive. I may just have to bite the bullet!

I found an Australian site for Mouser...

    https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...Jo%252Bg%3D%3D

Probably the same as what you know. I also see them on AliExpress although they may take a while to get to you.

Don't know if you get Temu there...but they have pretty good prices here for no-name brands.

Thanks again fender3x. I now have 2 on order.

We do have Temu (from the start of the year). I have made a couple of orders. They did have good prices!
