I have sort of been doing that with pedal builds. And a tube amp build is lurking somewhere down the line. But all these things have the same problem: saturation. I like building stuff, but even I feel like I don't need that many more pedals or guitars.

Wait, am I allowed to say that? Do I need to hand in my membership card? I don't see any angry mobs wielding flaming torches...

The Blueycaster decal arrived on Friday, and I have a good enough weather window ahead (aided by the shed heater during the critical hours after spraying). So today I sanded the neck up to 280 and then a very light sand with 320 before tack cloth and a first coat of clear. No stain, since I want a light coloured neck. The plan is to let that dry overnight, put the decals on in the morning, let them dry for 6 hours and then the first of the post-decal clear coats. With luck I will get two good coats on tomorrow and two or three the next day before the colder weather and rain hits on Wed.

I have been using so many decals for pedal builds that I feel confident of getting them on accurately without too much fuss. I just need to remember to leave room for the string trees.

In my haste today I have a fair-sized run on the back of the headstock, but previous experience has shown that the SCA clear settles quite nicely before it dries, and I plan to have enough coats that I can sand out any runs safely.

Where did you end up sources the print for the decal from? I see a member created it for you, but did you get it professionally printed elsewhere? Looking forward to seeing this application.
How many cans of clear have you used on this project?

I got the decal printed at Dr Decal and Mr Hyde. Cost almost $30 with postage, but I packed some other decals onto the A4 sheet.

As for clear, I think I am on my 4th 400g can of SCA clear. But that includes 5 effect pedal enclosures, all with at least 3 coats, lots of coats on the body that I stuffed up and had to sand back, then respray, and now the neck.

Well, almost. Still a ways to go...

Edit: Bluey is not blurry, that's just my photo. Also, the gloss level on the decal is higher than surrounds now, but that should equalise once I get the remaining clear coats on.

    Creature report! Creature report!

While my daughter approves, this guitar is mine! It's a blueycaster for playing the blues. It's also a subtle pun on Pitbull Guitars, and in no small part, the guitar is a tribute to my parents, both of whom loved blue and white (avid Bulldogs fans). While I don't like the Bulldogs, or even football in any variation for that matter, I liked the idea of tipping my hat to those memories.
