I prefer scraping the binding to clean it up rather than any other method (like sanding).paint was dry enough to unmask the binding. It needs some minor tidying but overall looks good to me.
If you haven't already done it, a DIY binding scraper tool is easy to make.
Mine is pretty much like the one in this pic:
