No touching for 2 days

Scraped binding, refinished body edges, fitted neck checking strings are even from the edges, pickup guard fits and enough intonation adjustment available. Still a bit worried about the action height but can still achieve Gibson factory settings for this scale length.

Hopefully you've removed those strings whilst the neck glue is drying. Leave it clamped for 24 hours, and then leave it alone and unstressed for 24 hours and the neck should should be well and truly attached.

Not removed but loosened with no tension. Is that ok?

I'd have totally removed them to remove any doubt, but if they were totally slack, then fine.

Bridge posts installed, bone nut filed down and glued in, basic setup to check if action height is acceptable and looks ok. (Removed bridge adjustment screws and intonation was perfect with factory bridge settings)

Cleaned up glue around neck join and refinished edges and binding (seems like a never ending task)

Ordered locking posts on Simons advice as the bridge is tilting forward under tension

Tomorrow start my tru-oil regime. 30 coats

Grab yourself some locking posts, they will keep your bridge straight and really help to transfer vibrations to where they need to go.

Depending on which set you get, if they come with the cheap Allen key screws, replace them with some Phillips head screws of the same thread. Just go to a bolt shop and you'll be sweet. Or let me know and I may have some lying about from my past endeavours

Thanks for the tip and offer. I have ordered the Kaish ones from Amazon which will take a few weeks to arrive. Out of interest why are the Allen key screws bad ?

Nothing wrong with them at all if made of a strong metal, but these ones are soft and strip/round the hex socket easily.

For me, the heads just tended to strip very easily. They might be okay if you use a decent Allen key , but you don't want to get the head stripped while they are locked in place and wish to remove them. Not a fun job.
