    New kit enthusiast from Melbourne

Found this site recently and thought the ES-12G was just what I needed. I am looking forward to holding a thing of beauty once its finished. Hope my playing does it justice. This is my first kit guitar. I have an acoustic 12-string. Using it for slide guitar, hence Open_g .

My main toy, bought last year as a mid life crisis gift to myself, is a top of the range Epiphone Les Paul (coil tapping, phase change, mahogany body and neck). 12 pickup combinations rather than the usual 3. I have added a Stetsbar tremolo. Pretty versatile tone, great sustain but heavy, no woodgrain and only 6 strings.

PBG takes it a step further allowing you to customise to get exactly what you want for even less cost and probably from the same factory or the one next door.

Expect some questions about making wood grain pop. I am going to take my time to give the wood all the care and attention it deserves.

Hi Open_g, And welcome to the forum. Take your time, ask lots of questions, do a build thread, add lots of pics. Most of us have been through most of the things that you have to look forward to. Enjoy your kit building and remember have fun.
    Best wishes,
    Kimball.

    Welcome to the madness Open_g.

Please do ask questions, there is always somebody here who can help. The guys here are probably sick of it, but my mantra is "There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers".

Take your time and enjoy the journey.

Thanks for the welcome. I am doing some pre-build research. Using an old mantlepiece I tried black ink rubbed into the grain, sanded and a light coat of red ink over the top. Much better than just red ink.
