My First Build

So here is my model arrived yesterday. First hollow body for me and first time doing my own soldering. Should be interesting. Waiting for the stain to arrive. But first the sanding. Lots of smoothing in prep!!!

To add a photo to your diary the image file needs to be a maximum of 1500 X 1250 Pixels in size, I found this out the hard way, if it's too big you can use a bit of software called Irfanview to re-size it, best of all it's a free download as in you don't have to pay anything for it, here's a link to the website:

    http://www.irfanview.com/

If you want to attach an image to your post, all you need to do is click on the image button that's just above the window you type your posts in, it should say "Insert Image" if you've got your mouse-cursor on the right button.

Great looking kit. If I built a hollow body this is probably the one for me too.

Build diary threads start here .... http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...splay.php?f=56 .... just add a thread by giving it a name and away you go.

With the soldering it might be worth just practising a few joints on some scrap parts to get used to the technique. You'll want to make a nice loom that is going to hold its shape so you can lift it into position once the wiring is tested and working.

Well, you've just added to your diary by asking this question! Another option for adding photos is to use a free Image Hosting Website. You can create a free account with sites like www.photobucket.com, or flickr.com (there are lots of them).

Basically you have to store your photos on the internet, whether it's at buildyourownguitar.com.au, photobucket.com, flickr.com etc. If you store them here (buildyourownguitar.com.au), you are limited to the size of the photo, and normally have to shrink it down before you can store it. This stops the server from being clogged up with large files.

If you use an image hosting website, you upload your photos to your account there. Each photo is given an address you can copy and paste into a forum to show the photo. You don't need to worry about the size, though loading files larger than 1.5 megabytes is a waste of data for general internet viewing.

For example, with the photo you've uploaded to an image hosting website, you get this address to copy and paste... (I've taken the [/IMG] from the end so you can see the format you're looking for)

    [IMG]http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee300/swanny66041/IMG_4502.jpg

If I include the missing text, I get this when I copy and paste the same address... a ball point pen tip!

I've used these websites for years to store photos I want to keep, to keep track of car builds, interesting photos I've taken, and they don't disappear when my hard drive fails. I've found it the easiest way to put photos up to different forums.
