Tonys IB7

Finally able to start building again in a new albeit smaller mancave.
So decided to start with an IB7 fitted with Entwistle Darkstars and neckwork by DB,upgraded brass toneblock on "floyd" (if it can fit without mods.)
Body has a fair bit of glue on it but nothing that wont come off.
Only one small issue to fix on the neck with a divot in the fretboard that will need to find a closematching putty to fix. (or if anyone has any other suggestions).
As a finish Wudtone Black Magic Woman in a one colour burst/fade with Silver highlights, I can see it in my head but thinking that the reality may be a little different.Was looking at doing heavy base coats around the edges and then using thinned coats toward the centre or using base coats to achieve the fade. Well nothing ventured nothing gained.

looks great Tony, should look good in BMW, its one of the harder colours to get consistent but just keep applying it till you get even coverage. I don't have an IB7 in my collection, maybe when it comes on a Sunday special !

Applied some BMW to my IB7 on the weekend and found that contrary to what has been posted it wasnt difficult to work with, it was damn near impossible. After educating my new neighbours with a plethora of obscure variations of commmon swear words, I decided that it would be best to stop and let dry.
Decided that the finish was poor and started to sand back this arvo and part way through on a whim (as i still had to sand back) applied some of the Cherry flamenco deep colour that was still wet on the cloth from the headstock of another guitar.
After several coats ended up with below which am supprisingly happy with.
Has a weird coppery effect and now its either stop and clear coat or play around with either BMW base coats or not.

Neat effect - as for the fretboard - maybe some superglue and while it's wet sand in some more rosewood??? Wokks / DB / the Gavmeister may be able to provide better advice...

Tony that colour looks excellent, I did warn you BMW is one of the harder colours to get right and its hard to get a dark appearance - Dingotones new black will be much darker.
As for filling the fingerboard probably some dark coloured timbermate wood filler as close to rosewood colour, let it dry, then thin superglue over it, then lightly sand back with a high grit paper or steel wool

Finally had an opportunity to get back to doing some work on this guitar. Added two coats of BMW base over the top of the existing colour to dampen the red a bit and now happy with colour and ready to start clear coating.
Now to finish headstock and hopefully by next weekebnd can start assembling.

Looking great Tony. Love the colours and the way the combination has highlighted the grain. Should be awesome with some clear coats on there!
