    Hi all from Newcastle

I have many hobbies and don’t really need another one but keen to get stuck into this new LP kit build from PBG. Kit arrived with a few problems around the body edge which will need filling. Thinking of using saw dust and glue to keep the colour the same as I intend on staining the timber. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Still need to check everything else is in order.

Hi Tracy, before you do anything with the guitar body, wipe it over with a damp cloth, not soaking, but enough to highlight any glue markings on the body. You may be able to clean up the body with some light sanding, remember if your going to use glue and saw dust its likely the glue will not allow the stain to get into the timber. There is a few utube video clips for this sort of thing.

    Hello and welcome Tracywilko.

re the filling - I would use some Timbermate grain filler to match the colour of the body. That will take on the stain in my experience.

Which LP kit did you get?
    PitBull Builds: FVB-4, LP-1SS, FBM-1, AG-2, TB-4, SSCM-1, TLA-1,TL-1TB, STA-1HT, DSCM-1 Truckster, ST-1, STA-1, MBM-1, MBM custom, GHR-1 (Resonator).

Scratch Builds: Pine Explorer, Axe Bass, Mr Scary, Scratchy Tele's.

The little voices in my head keep telling me "build more guitars"

I have some grain filler which I will try. Just deciding on a final colour which may drive my decision on how to approach this. The guitar kit is a SSCM-1F DIY ELECTRIC GUITAR KIT (MAHOGANY WITH FLAME MAPLE VENEER). Because the tear out is right on the edge near the purfling and is in the veneer, I don’t want to go to hard with sanding.
