haha ok thata a bummer. Trying to think of how to get that deep red wine colour. Maybe DB could mix you one up.
A cheaper option is to get a couple of FW 50ml bottles are only about $8 each. I reckon a coat of jarrah slightly sanded back then cedar could work.
EDIT Or FW mahogany is a really deep red colour

Nah, I'm gonna try out Ubeaut dyes this time. Red with a few drops of blue should get me there. I tried FW mahogany on the epiphone and it turned out too pink for my liking. I'm sure to try Dingotone sometime, but not with this one.

yeah ok sounds like a plan Pabs.
You could always route the switch cavity and presume you will drill a hole to the neck pup cavity.
Then if you are looking for stuff to do draft the shape of the pickguard you will cut or are you going a standard Gibbo shape from a template ?

I can show you what I've got planned for that a bit later. School pick up time.

Hey Pablo, this is one of the nicest finishes I've seen on an Ash EX guitar. It's our factory's "Honey Burst" (I don't think they got the burst concept right). It really looks great in the flesh, as I'm sure Brendan can attest.

Mmm, I like that. The guitarist in my band has a Maton Mastersound in honeyburst and it is lush. But, I'm pretty set on red now.

Got a few things done today along with the rear contour. Drew up the pickguard and cut a tester

This was mostly to locate where the switch will be so I could plan out the routing template.

I also trimmed down the headstock a little, because I can't help myself.

nice work Pabs, love the pickguard shape and the routing channel for the switch wiring will be much neater if it doesn't have to go via the pup cavities

Can relate to that. As you get older the straps get longer.
