Thanks Doc. Like you, I always wanted a Marshall rig, but real life got in the way lol.

@ Robin Yep, unfortunately that seems to be the case for pretty much all aspiring musicians, me included, we always seem to end up making -do with whatever gear we can afford, I think I was pretty lucky in that I was able to score myself a Marshall amp for under Au$2000.00, it took a bit of fixing to get it working more reliably, but I reckon it was worth it, and yeah, we also have to deal with whatever life has to throw at us too, and some aspiring musicians have to spend time, and, or, effort keeping their "significant-others" happy too.
The guy who fixed my Marshall for me did a trade deal with me, where I traded some stuff I didn't want anymore for his time and effort in fixing the amp, it would have cost me just over Au$600.00 in parts and labor to get the amp fixed otherwise.

Ouch, that Marshall has cost you a bit.
Explains why I have gone with combos these days as much cheaper, lighter, and generally easier to control the sound levels too.

But the thing was, at the time I decided I really needed to spend the money to get some decent gigging gear because I was feeling fed-up with having to make do with cheap and nasty gear, and I wanted to take things to the next level and get a bit more serious about being a musician, so I felt fine about spending more cash, I'm glad I did cause I think my Marshall turned out to be a good gigging amp once it had been fixed so it was more reliable, there's nothing worse than going onstage to play a gig and the amp pops a fuse, or breaks-down before you've even played your first song, it's even worse if the amp dies just before, or in the middle of that epic guitar solo you've been rehearsing for weeks, without any warning.

Yep Marc Bolan used one, mine was given a refresh last year still bloody loud and clean to the point where your ears break up.
Depending on what happens with the band over the next 6 months I may put it up for sale because it's simply got too much grunt if we are only recording and not gigging
