Awww damn Brodie, nice grain there! I had similar grain on my Les Paul build, a nice Dingotone stain will really bring it up and make it look spectacular!

nice looking body Brodie ! (the SG I mean haha
with the headstock you could draw a line equal offset from the holes and shape the sides so the hole offsets are the same, might be easier than plugging/redrilling the holes. The B peg looks a bit too far off the edge. Bit of sanding should even up the offsets
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

Wow Brodie, nice kit man! You must be stoked with all that bsswood grainy goodness. The flame maple veneer doesnt look bad either! Eagerly waiting to see what you do with this one!

    cheers,
    Gav.

Yeah, me either, Stan. Part of the territory I guess. Hoping to do the grain justice.

I reckon any kind of stain will make this baby pop. But DingoTone is definitely on my radar.

I have a great body in both senses of the saying, Woks.
I'm still toying with headstock ideas, so thanks for another one. My Wasp build had a wonky drill too, but I didn't need to redrill because I did an asymmetrical design. See what happens I guess, no rush.

Very happy indeed, Gav. I'm keen to see what I do with it too! As usual, taking each step as it comes. No master plan set in stone yet.

    ~°~°~°~°~

Update: Body is almost sanded to 180 (couple of sneaky sanding marks don't want to come out) but overall this is the quickest sanding job I've had on a kit. It was almost flawless right out the box. Have a couple of ideas for stain, one of which involves a plant, but I have a few more tests to do first.

    I'll keep you posted.

plans sound good Brodie. No rush with the build, no doubt it will take the path of your choice.
I've forgotten what its like to have one build to concentrate on !

Just realised how lazy I have been with this diary, so I figured it was time for some updates.

After my experiments with an alternative stain didn't work out, I opted to make this my 'Aussie Axe'. First I stained the front with some left over Dark Onyx Wudtone, to pop the grain:

I also stained the back and sides with some Wattyl Cedar (which is quite a nice colour, if I'm honest):

    More updates later.

    And now we have colour!

I'm going to try and get the first coat of Tru-Oil on today once I have finished sanding and staining the sides, to lock the colour in.
