I've done a few of those... 25mm tyres on carbon rims @120psi, a dynamic bike fit (with a video camera hooked up to a computer to measure fit angles), upgraded to an 11 speed Ultegra groupset, currently running a 53/39 crankset with an 11-32 cassette. I have to hit a couple of mountain ranges to upgrade myself, now.

sounds like you are well setup then Swanny.
You just got to train, train and train (sounds like the sanding motto !) to improve fitness and when the weather is rubbish get a wind trainer and watch TV !

Any luck with the prospecting, Tony?

@Wokka - what bike do you commute on?

haha nice work Tony, 10km on foot deserves a heap of cold beers to wash down your counter meal

@ Swanny, my road bike is getting a bit old, about a 2010 Giant TCR Alliance with ultegra 10 speed, think it's similar crank/groupset teeth numbers to yours. I'm due to get a new chain/cluster/chain ring the chain is starting to slip at times in taller cluster gears.
What sort of road bike you got ?
I got about 5 bikes for different purposes. Also fit a zbox petrol kit to one just over a year ago but always ride a pedal powered bike to burn off the food and beer calories haha

Speaking of lycra clad bed wetting vegans, I see that some major roads including the Mitchell Freeway will be closed for a massive bed wetters ride this weekend
And no, I cant stand sweaty, middle aged blokes wearing lycra...

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Can't go wrong with Giant, life time warranty on the frame! A new chainset and cassette is like having a new bike, and affordable from places like Chainreaction cycles.

I've got a 2012 Avanti Cadent, which was my introduction to road bikes. I'm thinking of upgrading the frame, and keeping my running gear for the new frame... an Eddy Merckx is what I'm eyeing off at the moment, but there's other things to spend money on as well... like another kit guitar!

I just looked that up, and it's a World Series event, with nearly 1500 entrants. (Gran Fondo World Series)

Sure you don't want to go and spectate, DB?

Its a bit of a pain in the butt actually. We do have stuff to do on Saturday that will require a change to travel plans... Adds more time and kilometers to a trip that we could do without.
I reckon it would be far more entertaining if they just let everyone rip, bikes v trucks and cars.... Now there is a great movie idea

Now, if it was a worthwhile ride, like the MS ride, I would be tempted to get out there on the old purple electric bike and give everyone a good cheer!
