@ Swanny, you mean a 62km bicycle or motorcycle ride ?

if it was on a bicycle that's a good distance, what was your average speed ?

It was on the bicycle Wokka. The Harley is gathering dust!

According to Strava I averaged 23.7km/hr, maximum speed 60.1. I'm a bit disappointed, as I had a 6 week break in Jan/Feb, and have to build the legs back up. I was averaging between 25-27km/hr for the same route at the start of January.

Edit: as for the distance, I did the same on Monday, 92km on Wed, so I'm up to 216km for the week.

wow that's impressive distances Swanny, what sort of bike is it ? mountain, hybrid or road bike ?

I cycle to work but no where that distance, about 32km a day but average around 30-32km/h but depends on traffic and wind conditions and how many bad drivers are on the road

It's a road bike, Wokka, The mountain bike is for going slow!

I started off cycling to work, which is about 18km each way about 3 or 4 years ago... well, I had to build up to that from gasping from going around the block! I got an email at work in April last year, promoting a 100km bike ride to raise funds for Multiple Schlerosis, and I took on the challenge and started riding further, and did the 100k ride in June last year. Since then I've also done the Brisbane - Gold Coast ride, and I've signed up for this years MS ride again. So between now and then I've got a lot of riding to do.

If I can average 30km/hr, I'll be over the moon!

Looks like an interesting sport, Dedman. Any time I have to go to a range, it's compulsory earplugs and muffs!

good work Swanny, keep training mate and your average speed and fitness will improve.
Well done entering the charity rides to, it all goes to a good cause.
There are a few small things you can do to improve your speed, tyre pressures around 100psi, lube the chain and have your seat set at the optimum height and keep a low profile into headwinds ie use the drop bars
