Now here's a thought.....a pickup works by picking up vibrations of a spring that disturb the magnetic Flux around the poles.....so mounting the neck pup on either the pick guard or body should not matter....however as we all know pickups will also detect a bump or knock etc.....so based on that they should also detect resonance through the body......but.....sound waves travel longitudinally through materials of the same density at a constant velocity but wherever there is a velocity change the waveform should change to a transverse waveform and refract off leading to refracted back wall echoes of the signal and therefore Muddiness of the sound due to the multiple wave peaks as harmonics of the forcing frequency...
So anyone else got any thoughts on body or pick guard mounting the neck pup
