yeah thats correct Ben, I've been trying to get Ads to tell the factory to move the bridge pup cavity of all tele models about 5mm toward the nut.
Sure I think you will need to close the gap so the bridge plate touches the pickguard.
You will definitely need to fill the existing bridge holes. Why the factory started pre-drilling holes has got me beaten
