I hadn't soldered much before but found the PBG videos really helpful especially the intro to soldering.
Hey Darth, thanks I'll check it out. My husband is an ex avionics tech so he will def be my guiding hand.

I think I am going to go back to the PBG videos a few more time as well before I get started.
Yeah they're my thoughts too. My husband did a Es 335 build (not Pitbull) and used the standard wiring that came with it. it has a lot of noise issues so he's got to completely re-wire the poor thing!

Since the pickup circuit of an Electric guitar is what's called a High-Impedance circuit, it produces a low level signal which is very susceptible to hum and electrical noise, so it is very important that signal wires are shielded in order to reduce noise and hum.

Hope you manage to get the noise issues sorted out.

Thanks for that Doc! Appreciate it it's annoying cause t was all wired correctly as per the schematic but just the quality of cables wasn't great.
He's kinda put it on the back burner at the moment, I will make sure he gets to it one day!

What sort of cables was it?, if it was just one wire for the signal and another for the ground, there's a way you can add shielding to it by wrapping both wires together in some ordinary aluminium kitchen foil, making sure the foil doesn't touch any soldered joints, next you wind some thin copper wire around this and solder the free end of the copper wire to a convenient circuit ground point such as the metal shielding of the volume control, you can cut the foil into strips about 2cm wide....hope that helps.

I will show him this! Could be his saving grace. I'm pretty sure it was the earthing cable. Thanks heaps!
