    20 mm is the general rule of thumb.

    I always measure the depth of the pup and height adjusters just to make sure

    There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

    No worries DB, think i might of changed my mind and direct mount the pick ups.

    Anyway my order came in on friday from stew-mac, i got a rosewood fretboard, truss rod, neck bushings, and a few other bits and bobs, here is the fretboard Click image for larger version.

    on the weekend i finally had some spare time so i jumped at the chance to work on the guitar.
    First i made sure the fret board was 12" radius which it was so i stuck it down to my bench and put 40 grit sand paper on top of it and started making a radius block, i went through the grits until 320 and this is what it looks like now.

    After i made my radius block i started on the neck. Im following a youtube channel Flecher guitars, he has a step by step guide on how to build a guitar first up was to route the channel for the truss rod, Click image for larger version.

    after abit of stuffing around with the chisel to fit the barrel in i got the truss rod

    also glued the wing on the head stock and drilled tuner holes.
