Man, I'm telling you a lot of inspiration for my build came from yours, was good to see someone with a similiar taste in guitar style to mine. Both our builds should be sick axes

And that's no worries man, we managed to work out what the scale length was, I just wanted to check with you to be sure it was right. I forgot I even sent that to be honest, so I'll excuse you this time 
Thanks, man - Appreciate it. I'm glad I was able to provide a bit of inspiration for you, and as I said I'm enjoying seeing it come together.

No challenge, just thought it worth mentioning that we 'young fullas' (aka Pest and I) were doing big build diaries before they were cool.

No kidding, mate. That's the understatement of the year right there. Every second post on the forum is by you, Mr GAStronomist.

Haha! Good, I'm glad you took it the right way. Don't stop doing what you're doing though, man. I'm quite happy to hand over the reins to a build diary as meticulous and in depth as yours. Lots of good ideas and advice for new builders, accompanied by a sweet axe. Can't wait to see it all done.

So, I spent a bit of time getting this baby up to scratch the other day in order for it to be half-way playable.

First things first, pulling the thing apart:

Action at the nut was a bit ridiculous, so I set about making it a more realistic level. It was especially bad on the treble side:

So, I knocked the nut off (thankfully I only used two small drops of super glue when I attached it - thank you very much DB) and sanded down the base of it to lower the overall nut height. After attaining a reasonable level on the bass side, the treble still needed some work, so with a little bit of ingenuity (I have no nut files) I managed to gouge out the slots marginally:

Voilą! Hey presto! We had a dream player! Much happier with both the treble:

    And bass side:

Plays soooooooooo much better now, too.

Overall action and intonation were problematic before working on the nut too, so general set up will be happening soon to work on them as well. Updates to come shortly.
