cheers kimball. I usually use up to 10 (very thin) coats with 24hrs at least in between each. After coat 4 I do take each one back quite a bit with some super fine wire wool. Then a good going over with both Meguiar's Ultimate Compound & Polish @ coat 10.

    Totally agree with Wokks.
Personally, I'm a bit terrified of bursting a flame cap. Yours has come up so damn well I might do a rethink . . .

Seriously, if I can pull off a burst anyone can! Maxaxe - go for it, I held back for a long time (in fear of stuffing up an axe) but made the leap of faith. Its a bit like your first bungee jump

Ok today was set aside for the wiring harness construction..

Firstly I made a cardboard template of the switch, input jack, pots and f-hole.

Then I mechanically fitted the capacitors, bent back pins where applicable then cut wire to size.

Then soldered the wires and joints.

Bit of a mess but wanted to test out before cable tidying up.

Everything worked, so cable ties at the ready..

Removed from template ready for insertion..

I used aquarium tubing to pull pots through fhole into position. Only tricky one was the input jack. For that I fashioned a 'tool' using a cut off input jack plug, a paper clip and some string so I could pull squarely through the hole.

There was some small tearing around pot holes but washers and nut have nicely covered.

Harness came into position with no issues. Having got this far I treated myself to a few lemonades. Then I made my first error. I wired the bridge and neck pickup oppositely. Never mind, undid the connections and re soldered correctly.

One final test and all done. No buzzing and everything appears to work.

FYI I think I used what is known as a 50's wiring circuit. There are a few things I'd do differently next time around (braided vintage cable for one) but overall happy with the outcome.
