Yeah already got them Warren. ToneRider Hot P90's.

ToneRider would have to come in a close 2nd to Adam for customer service. I needed to know whether their Hot Classic Tele pickups would be OK for a left handed guitar and a general question about their Hot P90's. I emailed them in the UK in the afternoon and I had a reply within 24 hours from Andrew, who I think is the Boss/Owner. With answers to all my questions and good luck wishes for my projects. Very impressed.

Mate, if I find a good source of quality maple veneer I will definitely let you know. Its quite possible to spend/waste hours on the net searching, searching, searching.

    G'day Rob,

I am doing a non PBG Tele with Schaller HBs and Wilkinson bridge, I also had to recut the pup cavities to suit. The pic below is from a few months ago

Used a small blade in a multitool and a fine fine chisel ( no router here either )

Today I rubbed the stain back and put the first coat of clear on it and it's coming up a treat

Edited to add, I know this shouldn't be on this part of the forum but I thought it pertinent to show another means of achieving what Rob had done and in context.
    ( I won't be offended if it get's removed or moved )

In Andrews reply to my email he said that the current batch of Hot Classics are, in his words, "ambidextrous". He said that the next batch in production will have staggered poles and will be left or right handed specific. So if any body has already bought some the will be OK.

Hey Dave, no probs as far as I'm concerned. Its good to be able to share our knowledge. If it helps someone think outside the box its all good.

There is always more than one way to skin a cat. But apparently the cat hates them all.

By the way, beautiful looking guitar you got going there. She's going to be a stunner.

    Cheers

Completely off topic, but it looks like Clubman drivers/builders also have a fascination for building guitars. I have one also.

Excellent Jeff, its nice not to follow the crowd. I guess that having either one of our passions would make us a bit different, but both? Maybe we need help?

    G'day Wok,

Both pups are vintage Schaller humbuckers and there will be no scratch plate, the body is 3 piece alder.

@ Rob, the body got 4 or 5 coats of FW Jarrah, I wet rubbed the front & back yesterday with 1000 grit and put the first clear coat on and it did come up much better than I expected. ( another couple of clear coats to go )

Enough of the hijack, here is a link to my much earlier post introducing the build http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...ll=1#post60046

Wow Dave, that's some nice figure for Alder. I have built an Alder TL and it was nowhere near as nice. I thought you could only get that sort of grain with Ash. I love that each piece of wood we work on is unique, and it is up to us to make the most of it.
