Had a look at those, I don't know enough about this sort of stuff to know what is good and what is bad, that being said, I have very limited funds to get something like this.
JB hifi has a home studio set up for ~$230 atm, the software in that is cakewalk le . Is that any good? (cakewalk that is..). The minister for finance said wait till after Xmas.

Also ty guys for the comments.

Cakewalk is sonar. I used to use sonar up until the x series came out, but they changed the ui so unless your running multiple monitors it can get cluttered really quick. Maybe check out audacity. It's a free program for pc, a multi-track daw just like cakewalk or Cubase, but it's not as pretty looking. Do you have an audio interface?

Ableton live is more geared towards electronic music and synths but has a very usable audio recording function, where Cubase or sonar are more your traditional daws. I find live very intuitive as that's the way it was designed, where Cubase is a lot more feature heavy. Sonar again is pretty feature heavy, but the le version is somewhat stripped down, less plugins bundled with the program, and maybe less track counts.

Audacity is pretty simple compared to those daws, and it's free.

Maybe if you can tell us what you plan to record we can point you in the right direction.

I was just planning to try to records some simple stuff to help me learn to play a tad better, the only interface I have is the R_P 155 pedal, which it says in the book it will connect o most DAW programs via the usb cable.. I downloaded the Sonar X trail.. could not get any sound out of it, but it did recognize the pedal..

Sweeeet finishes you're getting AJ ... so damn deep on that gloss I almost fell in!

Gotta agree with Andrew on Audacity ... very easy to use, highly capable and surprisingly sophisticated (especially for a free download!)

Wait a minute ... that sounds like Rock and/or Roll!

SG-1 ... "Little Miss" finished in Flamenco Cherry Wudtone
TL-1A ... "Slugger" finished in Antique White Nitro
EX-1 ... "Metal God" finished in nickel-plate (work in progress)
ST-1A ... "Scrapper" stained and finished in linseed oil ... and with the "secret weapon"
GR-1SF ... "Rocker-billy" (just arrived, work in progress)

I have now tried out Audacity, and had some success.. Here is a rough-ish sample I just did with the scratch "mako" through the RP155 pedal ... I've murdered "the good, bad n ugly" start..
