    TD's Jaguar

I have been very lucky and scored an old Pitbull GJM-1 kit. Mahogany body and neck, red tortoise shell pickguard and chrome control and switch plates. I have purchased some Tonerider Hot P90's. At the moment my intention is to use a jarrah stain with a black burst. I'm a little undecided how I will do the electronics - but that is a problem for later.

I have changed the nut to a bone nut and sanded the base to a good starting height for the slots. Filed the fret ends. Adjusted the truss rod to get a flat fretboard, levelled the frets, checked the frets using a fret rocker, filed the high frets, crowned the frets using the music nomad file, sanded the frets with 600 g and 1200 g wet/dry in the groove of the crowing file, polished frets with 0000 steel wool and polished frets with a polishing wheel on a Dremel.

I may be getting better at this process!

Yes, sometimes it does feel like it.

Today I have shaped the headstock and sanded the neck up to 240 g.

I have added a stamped "serial number" to the back of the headstock. This has been filled with Timbermate ebony wood filler and sanded back to 240g.

Also removed the protective plastic covers on the chrome plates and gave the plates a good polish.

Better than me. I never polish up the metal parts on the theory that it won't look played unless there are finger prints. That sounds better than sheer laziness, right?
