Part of my even-slower-than-usual building lately. Have been learning the set list ;-)

This is a free street party in Coconut Grove open to anyone who is in in the South Florida area on Halloween. It's one of the few Halloween events I know of that is as much fun for trick-or-treating kids as it is for adults.

It'll be the first public outing for two of the basses I have built here, the Batwing Precision, and the "Laureado" hybrid:

A street party sounds like lots of fun. How many, and what, songs are planning to play?

It'll be over 100 people for the party. It takes place in a neighborhood with active trick-or-treating going on so also lots of foot traffic.

Set list is pretty eclectic. Mostly blues/country rock oriented. It's taking place in Coconut Grove which has a sort of Bohemian vibe. So there are tips of the hat to the Grateful Dead and Jimmy Buffet. A bit of New Orleans funk and blues. It's Halloween so Werewolves of London and It's Your Voodoo Working. The drummer is supposed to be really good, so some Meters (Cissy Strut) got added at the last minute. Basically what we think of here as a "bar band" playlist.

Haven't had time to post much, but the gig turned out to be a blast.

I ended up only playing the Batwing Precision that I built on this forum all night (https://www.buildyourownguitar.com.a...ad.php?t=10529). PB was represented since it has a custom Jazz Bass width neck that Adam ordered for me. Now my favorite neck. Also, my new favorite bass. It has a paulownia body, and Hipshot Ultralite tuners that take a lot of (literal) pressure off my back.

I also build the folded horn cab and sub that you can see behind me. About the same output as an 8x10 Ampeg "fridge" but about half the weight.

We had one locally well known artist sit in with us for one number that someone in the audience captured...

Nice work. The band looks very slick for one rehearsal.
