This work build is now finished. The body and neck have not been polished. The tuners are Grover locking in black nickel. The logo is 3-ply pearloid pickguard material with a Cricut vinyl sticker. I replaced the all-black and covered kit pickups with open style.

Looking really nice! Have you played it yet? How does it sound? What an interesting figuring in the wood. It's going to be great once you get it polished.

Were you able to get good continuity with the black hardware? I have some like it, but mine doesn't seem to want to conduct electricity.

Those grovers look nice. I have a set that came on an old fender from 1968 that are still going strong, and I have always liked the way they look ;-)

Thanks fender3x. It makes sounds but has not had a proper setup yet. I have not tested the grounding of the strings (I know I had to work a while to ground the strings on the MBM-1 build).

I'm liking the Grovers as well, so much so that I'm going back through my collection and upgrading them on my favorite builds! The only issue is that the 406 series locking tuners are the only ones that have the matching screw position!

The grounding of the strings and bridge/tailpiece did take a while!

I did it methodically, one piece at a time,
the bushing insert was grounded well (I had sanded the section that was going to touch the ground wire), and was grounded from the thread of the insert,
the tailpiece screw/post needed to have the thread sanded, and the section that touches the tailpiece sanded,
the tailpiece needed sanding where it touches the screw, and where the string balls touch the tailpiece!

I don't think I have had that much trouble before!

I also had some issues with the string height at the bridge as two strings (G and E) were way too high compared to the others (see picture - you can see the light getting under the B, D and A strings). The saddles needed quite a lot of filing to set them right.

It is now setup well, and plays well.

    Very nice.....

The logo - I do not know what a "Cricut vinyl sticker" is... but does that mean you inlaid the pickguard material (I'm assuming 3 ply is 3 mm thick) into the headstock?

    Interesting technique.

Yes, the pickguard material is inlaid into the headstock. I have done the same on a number of builds - check out the MBM-1 headstock at https://www.buildyourownguitar.com.a...l=1#post227426.

The decal is cut on a Cricut smart cutter, I have the Cricut Joy. Check out https://www.buildyourownguitar.com.a...ad.php?t=11728.
