sorry fender supercheap is an auto parts store here in Australia its probably the largest, I don't use Duplicolor i think their a rip off, it is harder with rattle can for sure there are 2 ways you can use the most important is the clear theses days I like to use 2pack or acrylic lacquer if your not good with the ins and outs of how to spray paint 2pack use acrylic lacquer. I don't know a lot of brands in the USA but Rust-Oleum is ok but any Acrylic Clear 400g can will do the job, you just got to know a couple of things 1 you always use a sanding block, you spray I 1 full length pass not short burst you go then forwards then backwards overlapping every pass by 25% and most importantly take your time you do 6-8 coats clear, 3 coats primer filler as many as needed sanding after every 2-3 wait 3 day before cut and polishing it, 2pack is a different method anyone one can pm me if they need help

atm I'm using rattle can as I sold my large compressor as I'm buying 1 of those silent compressor, I've just got a little 1 which can't keep with my spray guns I do use it for candies`

My Strats finished came out nice this 1 is a keeper ive put Seymour Duncan pick ups I took out of a old Kramer Strat, I've upgraded the bridge to a lot heavier 1, put on a 22 fret maple neck not stringed yet as I've run out of strings, I completely striped the black Les Paul sanded it down with 1000g till the surfaces were completely flat and body swell was gone then sanded it with 2000g cut and polished with good compound and it look as if it was new very happy with it, the white Les Paul I repair the chip in the neck and sanded the back only with 2000g and cut and polished it the large scratch was gone it looks new,

The Strat I did in candy apple green I ended putting another 2 coat 5 in all 8 coats of clear lacquer I'm pretty happy with them all so far my collection to 7 and I've got my eye on an SG which I might get here some pics so thats it for a couple of weeks till I find somemore

Hey chaps been at it again picked up a mint Squire Strat just needs a cut and polish and I'm going to upgrade it parts as I always do, rare to pick up any guitar from cashies that i haft to correct it in some way, been working on the SG had a few problems regluing the scarf joint and I notice the finger plate was unglued, so shot up to bunnings to get a stronger glue settled on weld bond which did the trick and reglued all the finger plate, got a pot of timber mate to ill a few spots,

guys who have read my thread from the beginning know I don't like timbermate, as it swells when using lacquer clear it sucks up the thinners swells and messes up a lot of work getting them all flat unfortunately had no choice I gave the whole body 3 coats of binder prior to shooting the colour tint which should isolate it, the pictures I'm about 1/2 way through doing the colour, I've mix it up its a dark red festering in to a reddish brown the pictures don't do it justice, should have him in clear by Monday, I got 4 guitars on the go atm, all the ones I got for myself are finished and play everyone of them every night

Has anyone know anything about Artist guitars Strat Wrangler pick up set any good or crap

    Ok heres some pictures
The red arrows are how much the finger board needed gluing

The colour is translucent you see the grain camera dose

Heres the Squire its in pieces atm getting a good cut and polish and clean

hi chaps Been busy I finished painting the SG she will take a few days before I can polish as I've put 15 coats of clear 10 coats thined down to 1-1 sanded that down with 1000grit then another 5 at 2-1 its come up nice picture doesn't do it justice, it a tint over binder you can see the grain through the paint, I'm going to leave it 3-4 day to harden thats the down side of lacquer I've done the SG with spray gun

The other is the squire I've striped it down and sanded the body with 800 grit then 1000grit and lastly 2000grit it had done bad scratches in it which its a keeper so put a bit of work into it, all the scratches are gone a cut it back with a 2k cutting compound don't know what clear they use but it pretty tough to cut back, I changed out SSH pick ups for a SSS changed all the electrics to better pots and cap used a black pick guard as I feel it suits it better, I've also put on a roller Bridge, upgraded machine heads (tunners) set it all up did any high frets and im going to change out the nut for a graph tech the thing plays great and sounds great was exactly what I was looking for heres some pics

Thats them all done till I find some more and I'm going to buy couple of tele kits and a es335 but you can buy a new artist hollow body cheaper than a kit I had 1 before I got sick so think ill grab 1 of those

That is how an SG should look. Bit of Angus Young. Bit of Ferrari ;-)
