Another work build!
The body was stained with Ubeaut water dyes (diluted to 25%, 2 coats) Red, Orange, etc. The purple (!!?) was a mix of red and blue. The neck is 5% cedar. The body was given 3 brushed on and 6 wiped on coats of Tru-oil. The neck was 10 coats of tru-oil. Both sanded along the way up to 2000 g. The headstock logo is a Cricut vinyl sticker put on after coat 3. The serial number is stamped on, filled with ebony Timbermate and sanded flat before the stain and Tru-oil.

Stock hardware except for the black pickguard.

Not my usual as far as colours go! I was trying to use all the colours in the Ubeaut water dye set! (I should have used the black instead of my purple). I used masking tape to guide the placement of the colours, and then tried to blend the edges (which was quite difficult).

Another work build.
The body is stained with Ubeaut water-based cedar dye (100%), coated with wiped-on tru-oil. I have also added a few sprayed coats of Cabot's water-based gloss polyurethane, 2 burst coats of Cabot's water-based gloss polyurethane with a black stain, and finally 4 coats of Cabot's water-based satin polyurethane. The satin final coats was an experiment to see how satin it ends up! Also, whether the w/b poly can go onto the tru-oil. I also have not polished it.

The neck was finished with a Cabot's cedar stain and finished with Cabot's water-based satin polyurethane.

This kit is a mismatch of hardware - Black hardware, but a white pickguard and pups! I'm happy with the white guard on the front, but I think I will change the back cavity plate with a black one when I can source one!

I like that last one...and generally the results you are getting with the Ubeaut dies. I have never seen them here...but you are certainly getting good results.

I also liked the neckplate...curious how you did it?

Thanks fender3x. The neckplate is simply a vinyl sticker. I'm not sure how well it will last there, but it is a "permanent" sticker! I have placed a sticker onto the pickguard of another build, and it seems to be holding well.

I'm using these work builds to try some different things, and show off more options, that I would not try on my own builds!

I am pretty sure that is the first time I have heard I guy with a 10 gallon hat on the back of a horse quote Oscar Wilde. And I have been to a number of cowboy poetry competitions. Kudos to you, sir!

Thanks XP Rider. I think the whole guitar kit building philosophy is based on that quote. Definitely, most of my builds are either inspired by the look of a classic guitar, or an image off the net.

fender3x, I am sure you know that some of those old time drovers on the Chisholm and Goodnight-Loving Trails were quite well educated. And the cowboy poets of today as well.
And a very good point about guitar building philosophy. That's what makes this forum such a treasure.
