The little voices in my head keep telling me "build more guitars"
Well I was hoping that I would have a new guitar for Xmas but “the best laid plans of mice and men” in this case my paint job didnot turnout the way I wanted. So sanded back and used acrylic lacquer instead of the enamel I had tried. The paint is now finished (tung oil on the neck)
I have now fitted the pickup’s and next is to solder the wiring
I have looked at the wiring diagram and it seems straightforward (apart from the actual soldering)
My question is, the earth wire from the PU’s is a wire ‘mesh’. Is there anything to be careful of when soldering this. Thanks
A great thread title. I've been thinking that since I pulled the trigger on the kit. It's been good therapy, teaches me a lot about myself, and is a nice break from the rat race. Looking forward to following this one.

Can't find out how to make my own thread/post, so am posting here. Hope it is okay to do so, if not, I apologise.
I received a guitar from Hillsound the other day and it has a crack which if pointed in sunlight, can see a slight light come through. If someone knows how to repair it or if I should send it back, can they PM me please?
Much appreciated.
Hi Matthew,
to make a new thread:
Go to FORUM (on the header tabs),
Then select the thread type like MY BUILD DIARY, or NON PITBULL GUITARs
then select POST NEW THREAD button under the header tabs.
If possible include a picture.

Ohhh gotcha, thank you so much. Whenever I have been on forums I have never known how to post a thread. Putting it in general guitar discussion for non-pitbull guitars. Thanks again.
Thanks Stewartm, as I know nothing about painting, electronics, soldering or guitars it seemed an apt title. I am however enjoying the experience immensely.
Thanks Trevor for the soldering tips, I also went and had a look at a PBG video on wiring a TL1. It looks like the selector switch has changed sometime in the last 8 years, but I got the general idea. So today I took the bull by the horns and it turned out a lot better than expected. Some solders went well, others took a bit longer, but nothing got smashed or thrown at the wallThe PU’s were wired in, the output jack (puretone) was wired up and then it was time for the tap test !! … and it worked perfectly. Very surprised. However as I was about to install the ‘switch panel’ luckily I noticed that an earth wire had come off. A quick resolder and hopefully all good. Seeing I was on a roll I also installed the pick guard and hammered in the bridge pins (and even remembering the earth wire).
Next is fitting the neck, straightforward, and then aligning the Bigsby, possibly not so straightforward.
