    Thanks heaps mate, so would I just get one of the FW stains, apply it and if I’m happy with the colour, put Tru oil over the top?

    Yep.
    Sand it up to 240 grit sandpaper, apply the stain, leave for a day or so. I would brush on the first 2 coats of tru-oil (with throw away brushes), then add lots of thin coats of tru-oil with a 10x 10 cm cotton cloth around a half tissue ball. Every 5 coats or so give a very light rub down with 600 g wet and dry to remove fluff etc. Easy.
