    That's "shaping up" nicely .

It will still be pointy enough to lose an eye if not careful...

    Looking good, FW.
As your shed fairy has mastered the dust pan and broom it shows you must be doing something right.

And things get sharper and pointier....

McCreed May have called it, with the headstock I have planned, this will have to be carried in public in a locked gig bag, with a permit.

    Hah! Good one!

How are you doing your bevel? Machine or hand tool?

The bulk of material removal is done with a battery powered angle grinder running an 80 grit flap disc.
That’s mainly around the large smooth outer curves and the belly cut. You can get a surprising amount of control on the wide sweeps.
I did use that as a break in for the cutaways, but it’s a bit cumbersome to manoeuvre in there without doing some serious whoopsie.

A small round dragon rasp, 60 grit wrapped around suitable diameter dowel cauls, and a half round micro plane help shape out the tighter aspects of the cutaways.

A Shinto saw rasp helps to flatten the bevels, in conjunction with a medium cut half round bastard file.

I then smooth off with 60/80 grit stuck to varying width slices of 6 mm MDF and some other flattened hard maple blocks. Kinda like emery nail boards from hell.

You are not left with much flat area for your neck plate, will it be a strong enough hold?

I'm guessing FW will consider ferrules instead of a plate?

Thanks for showing your various shaping tools Frankie.
I use an angle grinder/flap disc for initial removal of comfort contours too. Then fine tune with various hand tools (rasps, dowels etc).

I find a drum sander attachment in a hand drill is good for getting in around the cutaways and horns. I have whole set so I can change size as needed. They're also handy in the drill press for other jobs too.

I have an idea involving epoxied anchors and countersunk stainless steel low head cap screws. It is all experimental and may fail spectacularly, but that is part of the fun!
