The bulk of material removal is done with a battery powered angle grinder running an 80 grit flap disc.
That’s mainly around the large smooth outer curves and the belly cut. You can get a surprising amount of control on the wide sweeps.
I did use that as a break in for the cutaways, but it’s a bit cumbersome to manoeuvre in there without doing some serious whoopsie.
A small round dragon rasp, 60 grit wrapped around suitable diameter dowel cauls, and a half round micro plane help shape out the tighter aspects of the cutaways.
A Shinto saw rasp helps to flatten the bevels, in conjunction with a medium cut half round bastard file.
I then smooth off with 60/80 grit stuck to varying width slices of 6 mm MDF and some other flattened hard maple blocks. Kinda like emery nail boards from hell.
