I see you bought a new bridge. Looks like it might be the same one I bought off eBay. How's the pickup rings on your kit?

For mine the rings don't sit very well, particularly the neck ring. Swapping the rings actually made them sit better. Not sure if I should bend them when I screw them on or try and modify the arch to better fit.

The bridge ring sits perfectly and you're right, the neck ring will need to be bent a little to make a snug fit. I may play with the arch a little on the bridge side, but I think it will look fine once the neck is installed. Will most likely need to raise the pup a fair bit out of the ring tho, we will see when strings are on and the action is sorted out.

Yep, I got the musiclily adjustable wrap around bridge. I wanted single string adjustment instead of the pre-intonated one from the kit. It's nice and chunky and looks pretty smart I rekon.

Was also toying up with a string thru idea and this bridge could have potentially been used for that. I don't think I will on this build tho anymore.

I would lay some 120 grit paper across the area the ring fits on, secure it and then GENTLY rub the pup ring neck to bridge to try and match the curve.
I did this on an LP build and got the profile sitting perfectly. ON the bridge ring i used a profile gauge to recreate the curve of the body on the respective sides of the pup ring, then trimmed with a dremel and used 220 paper for the final clean up of the curve.
It's a bit fiddly but can provide good results if you are careful with your placement and keep your strokes and pressure even.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

Absolutely brilliant idea/advice FW thank you. This will be a perfect solution for the back of the neck ring. I think the front should be fine once the neck is in.

First coat of poly - looking nice (bad photo light).

    And prepping for fret levelling.

I got one of those Musiclily bridges and couldn't use it on my PRS-1H build as it sat too high. Even with the posts wound all the way in my action at the 12th fret was still 4mm.

Sadly as an experiment I tried the same bridge on my PRS SE245 and got a similar result. Both my guitars currently sport the fixed intonation bridges and the adjustable bridge sits in my parts box...

Thanks for the heads up. I have a few ideas incase that is the case. My initial measurements looked favorable. Time will tell.

The measurements for mine also look fine. In fact the Musiclilly bridge looks to be a tiny bit shorter than the one supplied with the kit. The bridge itself is about the same height but has string indents which make it shorter. Plus the bottom of the post screws are thinner and the top of the post inserts is thinner allowing the bridge to sit lower than the supplied bridge. So all up about 2mm lower for mine.
