Real ones are heavy though, and need a special stand (as does an explorer, though not so heavy), so probably less convenient for Phroz.

100% Simon right on the money, i mainly do them for myself or close mates and being in a wheelchair its a struggle to hold it and if the body is heavy (arla les paul) its a struggle to just hold it let alone play it, i have been thinking about doing some hollow body's but not quite sure which, having a room full of guitars isn't a problem as i play them all and none sound or play the same, i'm in the middle of a Lpaul for a friend so ill be ordering a couple of kits soon but won't be strat family.I have a few different finishes i want to try, SG is a candidate my missus used to play an EX which she loved. leave it with me and i might surprise every one. thanx for the input guys food for thought ....

hi guys couple i'm currently doing only just up to the clear stage but coming along nicely front is just a yellow dye rear and sides is walnut stain body was a nightmare high and low spots around the binding, i had to clear and sand back with 600 grit 6 times almost used 2lt of clear each block was 9 coats but looking nice a flat now so should polish up real nice still have heaps of work to do on it not sure if its a keeper till i finish it and have a pick
