Variable speed and easily swappable pads is definitely nice. There are certainly other options than the ozito if you really want to go all out. But for its price I'm happy with the bang for buck it offers and the results are good. I also have couple of drum and cone bits I use in a cordless drill for tricky spots like inside the horns.

Hey cheers Phroz, I've wondered about those foam buffing sets before, but forgot about them. Will order pronto. Probably stick with the microfibre pad to finish this one off now though.

Thanks, Phroz, I've just ordered a set for myself of the 19pc pads. What order do you use the pads in, and what are the wavy ones for? And do you use them with or without a cutting compound?

orange flats face Simon which are the stiffest, then orange knobby ones the rest i use just to polish i mainly use Meguiar's Polishing Compound have been using the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound atm but i think the polishing compound is better and is better with hand finishing, i use a $39 ozito 18v cordless with 2 18v 2 amp battery's works great fast enough to leave a super shine and slow enough not to burn the paint but any half decent cordless drill will work electric drill is way to fast and will burn the paint but the pads are the best i have tried and you all see the shine i get but pretty darn easy to do

you wont need to haft to worry about swirl marks as you just wont get any thats mainly done using lambs wool pad which i avoid on guitar body doesn't matter which paint you use as can use the same method

So the Rockwell @ 600W is slower than the 400W Bosch?

yes mate the Bosch kicks it butt hands down you can buy the Rockwell under heaps of different brands but there the same but there rubbish you can just go get a orange foam and stick it on the Bosch and it rips have been using Bosch gex for 30 years best sander on the market can go super slow to super fast the rockwell takes longer and no where near the finish i can get with a gex and its noisy as biggest piece of junk i ever brought but now i just use the pads on a cordless

I've got a Bosch 18v cordless drill. That's certainly a lot slower than a mains drill.

Hi. Thanks for the tip. Only Bosch gear I have is a belt sander and decided that it's definitely too heavy duty for guitars let alone polishing.
I'll stay away from the Rockwell then and perhaps consider a battery powered drill. Could come in handy for other jobs as well.
