    Yes, the headstock does look a little rough in comparison, but you can still fill it. I'd use a black stained filler as the little pockets in the wood are showing up as a lot lighter than the rest. The Gibson 'TV yellow' LP Juniors were grain filled after the first coat of paint had been sprayed on, so it's been done before.

    But I guess I have to do the whole headstock and then sand it down? Or would you suggest to do only the edges where the black stain is now?
