Damn Kick. That's a pain. There will be ways to deal with this, but you will have to restain the areas after. So don't do anymore stain until you have sorted this. It looks almost like the factory has wiped excess glue from the binding around the edge of the body so it should be able to be fixed easily, but I'll let some one with a bit more experience of glue and top veneers make the suggestions.

if you can get a product called Goof Off and rub like crazy it will take most of the glue off. I had the same issue on my Flying Vee around the very edge but no amount of rubbing with Goof Off would move it so I ended up doing a slight black burst on the edges. This is one area the factory does get sloppy with. I've had some that were perfect but others that look like they had a glue fight

Dedman, what did you use to cover the glue spots? Just some black paint? Spraycan perhaps?

Despite the glue spots I wanted to continue so I added some more layers on the body and this is how she's looking:



And the darker and deeper reds she gets the more you see the glue spots pop out. Especially around the lower edge and at the joint:

I used car acrylic in an air brush to do a narrow burst on the edges, that wouldn't work on the join up the middle though.

Maybe it would if you did the guitar as two half bursts - top and bottom - so you can cover the center line and edge glue with black bursting into that lovely quilted red (which really looks superb!)

@Billb: It could be a solution but I think I should have done that in an earlier stage.

Did you ever try to find the glue spots before you stained, by wetting the surface with turps or methylated spirit, and then removing them with Goof Off?

To be honest, I didn't. But that is because there were some other glue spots visible even without wetting the surface and those spots drew my attention and I worked on them with water and a toothbrush to make them disappear. So when they were gone I never would expect that there were lots more glue spots...

Anyway, this is my first build and also a learning process. Learn from mistakes and carry on

That said, I have the feeling that the stain is doing its work on the glue spots. After the last picture I added some more stain and it looks as if the glue spots are becoming less visible. More pictures tomorrow!
