No pics yet and yes I did use the drill press.

As per the vids on YT I mounted the bridge plate and drilled the 1 & 6 strings right through and the other four part the way, then flipped it over and screwed it down using the 1 & 6 holes and drilled 2 - 5 through using a 3mm bit.

Then counter bored with a 6.5 for the ferrules.

Theory is that this ensures the ferrules are nice and straight but because they are a firm fit in the holes I haven't confirmed but by sight it looks pretty close, haven't even checked with a straight edge.

sounds good DK, sounds like the best method you have used.

good move don't push the ferrules in, you won't get them out without trashing them !

Put a straight edge across them and it looks like the G ferrule is out by a poofteenth of a mm ( highly technical term I learned in college )

If you are going for a long drive, then you could glue some sandpaper to the outside of your front wheel, then hold the guitar body out of the window and sand as you go along.

being aviation I'd imagine that'd be a Pooftyfourth of an inch?

Thinking back on it, given that I went through college in the imperial units years the term I learned was of an inch too

Sounds like things are coming together nicely Dave.
With the ferrules, are these pressed in flush with the body, or does a fraction sit proud of the timber?
