    Maddog's LPA-1

While the sale was on I grabbed a LPA-1

This is one I'd either leaving till later or working on as I become more confident on each step
There may be bass I do before this as well

also need to decide what I'm going to do with it
having seen 6 bands over the weekend I may have concentrated more on the guitars than the music at times :P

currently leaning towards Karijini red with black hardware, also considering coolangatta gold with the chrome and cream hardware that came with the kit

also one little issue I need to fix, the strip between the neck and the cutaway the veneer drops away faster than the binding and there is a glue patch to sort out

advice on how to sort that out would be appreciated

still need to do full dry fit but need to get my shed sorted so I have room to work first

That side patch with the glue is usually under the fretboard overhand. Test fit the neck and you may well find that you dont need to worry about it at all. I'd say that's what the factory did and hence the lack of cleanup. My current LP build looks exactly the same. Some great flame in that maple veneer by the way. good score!

    cheers,
    Gav.

Hey Maddog. As Gav said the fretboard overhang should cover that. Have a look from the side and see if there are any gaps between binding and fretboard binding to see if any adjustments are required.
This looks like a LP-1M with the flame maple cap and looks like mahogany body?
Hard to see some grain looks like ash. Can you please post a pic of the end grain?
Ash LPs normally have an ash top, not flame maple

from looking at the LPA-1 page, it looks like the top has changed at some point:
Inspired by the legendary Les Paul(TM), the LPA-1 features an exquisitely finished Ash body with a highly figure Ash veneer top and striking white binding between the top veneer and the body.
    then:
Please note: The LPA-1 has an Ash body with Flame Maple veneer.
I'll grab it out over the weekend and take some more photo's

If it is the LPA-1 it would have been a custom order where the customer then backed out of the sale last minute.

I'm not so sure given the the current page lists flame maple twice. It's possible that an entire batch got sent with the flame maple

Hey Maddog just checked the PBG site and it says ash veneer then it says twice it has a flame maple veneer. Wow the factory makes some changes alright. I thought the grain in the neck pocket was ash.
I think it will be a killer combo. Good luck with the build
